Temporary baggage screening unit operational at Prince George Airport

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Airport Authority says a temporary checked baggage screening unit is now up and running at Prince George Airport, helping reduce delays for travellers while repairs continue on the airport’s primary screening equipment.

The temporary screening area has been set up in the International Arrivals section of the terminal. Airport officials say the new system has significantly improved processing times by allowing the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) to move away from fully manual baggage screening procedures.

The temporary process will remain in place until repairs to the airport’s main checked baggage screening equipment are completed.

Travellers checking bags are being advised to arrive at least two hours before their scheduled departure time. After checking in with their airline and receiving baggage tags, passengers must take their luggage to the temporary screening area and remain with it until the screening process is complete. Once screening is finished, passengers can proceed to the pre-board security checkpoint.
