Strong Cities brings global effort to PG
PRINCE GEORGE — From hate speech and disinformation to cyber harassment and online polarization, the challenges facing communities today often originate far beyond municipal boundaries. Yet advocates say local governments remain uniquely positioned to help prevent the social divisions that can grow into larger threats.
That message was at the heart of a cross-sector roundtable held in Prince George on July 27, bringing together local government officials, public safety representatives, educators, community organizations and frontline practitioners to discuss the impacts of online harms and ways to strengthen community resilience.
The event was organized by the Strong Cities Network in partnership with the City of Prince George as part of a province-wide initiative aimed at strengthening municipal capacity to address online harms.
