Evacuees arrive as fire grows
PRINCE GEORGE – The Big Bar Complex wildfire continues to challenge firefighters in the Cariboo, with crews working to protect communities including Clinton and 70 Mile House while hundreds of residents remain under evacuation orders.
Although cooler temperatures and higher humidity helped moderate fire behaviour in recent days, BC Wildfire Service officials say the threat remains significant as warmer and drier conditions return to the region.
“The biggest factors currently that are influencing fire behavior is predominantly the drought conditions in the area,” said BC Wildfire Service Fire Information Officer Karley Desrosiers.
