CityWest outage disrupts services across Northern B.C.

PRINCE GEORGE —CityWest is reporting a widespread outage affecting internet, telephone, and TV services for customers across a large portion of northern British Columbia. The disruption extends from communities north of Rivers Inlet on the Central Coast, near Bella Bella, east to Prince George and includes Mackenzie.

The company says all customers in the affected area have been impacted, although it has not released the number of users affected.

No cause for the outage has been identified.

CityWest says a secondary backup route between Prince George and Vancouver is also being affected by nearby wildfire activity, limiting its ability to reroute traffic. Technical teams are working to restore service, but no estimated restoration time has been provided.
