Traffic disruptions coming to Carrie Jane Gray Park

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George residents who use Carrie Jane Gray Park or the YMCA will need to adjust their travel plans starting Monday as construction work gets underway on a major infrastructure upgrade.

The City of Prince George says Del Laverdure Way will experience closures and traffic disruptions from August 17 through October 23 while crews install new water and sanitary sewer services. The work will support the future BMX track and synthetic turf facilities planned for the park, while a new gravity-fed sanitary sewer line will also be installed at Ron Wiley Field to replace existing septic holding tanks.

As a result, access to Carrie Jane Gray Park and the YMCA will be limited to right-in, right-out turns at the entrance near Carney Street. A temporary access road behind the fire hall will be available throughout the construction period.

The project is part of the City’s multi-year Carrie Jane Gray Park renewal initiative, which aims to modernize and expand recreational amenities in one of Prince George’s busiest community parks. Motorists and park users are encouraged to allow extra travel time and follow posted detour signs while construction is underway.
