PRINCE GEORGE — The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has provided an update into their investigation into Thursday’s accident. The TSB has deployed investigators to Prince George following a plane crash that claimed the life of one person on the ground Thursday afternoon.

According to the TSB, a Beechcraft King Air 200 aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing on Foothills Boulevard after experiencing an in-flight engine failure.

The aircraft, registration C-GEDV, departed Sturdee Airstrip at approximately 1:25 p.m. local time with two crew members and six passengers on board. It was en route to Prince George International Airport (YXS) when it lost power on one engine.

Investigators say the pilot attempted an emergency landing on Foothills Boulevard, where the aircraft collided with four vehicles. All eight people aboard the plane escaped without reported injuries. However, one person on the ground was killed in the crash.

The TSB was notified of the accident Thursday afternoon and dispatched a team of investigators, who arrived in Prince George later that evening.

On Friday, investigators continued documenting the scene and collecting evidence as part of the ongoing investigation. The TSB says interviews with those involved and other affected parties are also being arranged.

In a statement, the agency extended its condolences to everyone impacted by the tragedy.

The cause of the engine failure and the circumstances surrounding the emergency landing remain under investigation. The TSB says no additional information is available at this time.
