Vancouver Whitecaps sign defender Tate Johnson to multiyear extension
VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Whitecaps have locked up defender Tate Johnson, inking the American fullback to long-term extension.
The Major League Soccer club announced the deal Friday, saying the contract extends through the 2029-30 season with a club option for 2030-31.
The 21-year-old University of North Carolina product was picked by the ‘Caps 15th overall in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft.
Johnson has since played 68 games across all competitions for Vancouver, tallying one goal and five assists.
