Dietitian urges caution on energy drinks for teens
PRINCE GEORGE – Many teens reach for energy drinks for a quick boost, but a Northern Health dietitian says the risks may outweigh the short-term benefits.
Emilia Moulechkova, a registered dietitian with Northern Health, says energy drinks are still popular with teens for a few reasons. Some use them to stay awake, while others are drawn in by advertising or want to fit in with friends.
“Teens might choose these drinks to fit in, or because they think they boost energy or performance,” Moulechkova said.
