Missing person case now considered a homicide, say Prince George RCMP

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP say the death of a man who was reported missing earlier this year is now being investigated as a homicide.

Twenty-nine-year-old Julian Wich was reported missing on January 2, 2026, after family members had not seen or heard from him since December 10, 2025.

Police say investigators identified suspicious circumstances early in the investigation, prompting the Prince George RCMP Serious Crime Unit to take over the case.

On June 19, 2026, Wich’s remains were discovered in the Fraser River. Following the discovery and subsequent investigation, officers have determined his death was the result of homicide.

RCMP are now appealing to the public for information that could help advance the investigation.

“We are asking that anyone who may have information relating to the death of Julian Wich to come forward and speak with police. Even information that may seem insignificant could assist us in advancing this investigation,” said Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer with Prince George RCMP.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 and quote file number 2026-141.

Police say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
