RCMP investigating reports of gunfire in College Heights

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP are investigating after reports of gunfire in the College Heights area early Friday morning (Sept4).

Police say they were called to the 7100-block of Barbara Place at approximately 5:30 a.m. after a resident reported hearing five or six gunshots. The caller also reported seeing a white SUV leaving the neighbourhood at a high rate of speed.

Investigators have since confirmed that gunfire occurred in the area, but have not determined whether the vehicle was connected to the incident.

RCMP are now canvassing the neighbourhood and gathering evidence as they work to establish exactly what happened.

“We have confirmed there was gun fire in the area, and our investigators are working to determine the full circumstances of the event,” said Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer with the Prince George RCMP.

Police are asking residents in the surrounding area to review surveillance footage and dash camera recordings for anything suspicious or unusual around the time of the incident.

No injuries have been reported and the investigation remains ongoing.
