Skakun says major FedEx facility coming to Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George City Councillor Brian Skakun says a major investment by FedEx is another sign the city is becoming an increasingly important transportation and logistics hub for northern British Columbia.
Skakun says FedEx signed a lease Thursday for a new facility on Boundary Road, which he describes as the first of its kind in North America for the company. Speaking after a groundbreaking event for the project, Skakun said the operation is expected to serve a large portion of central B.C. and handle significant air cargo traffic.
According to Skakun, FedEx officials indicated the facility could see two or three aircraft arriving daily from Calgary, with shipments moving through Prince George to destinations across the region. He said the project has the potential to become one of the company’s largest operations in Canada.
Skakun said Prince George’s location, transportation infrastructure and available workforce helped attract the investment. He pointed to the ongoing development along Boundary Road as a key factor in the company’s decision to establish the facility in the city.
