Morris Steamed Over Traffic Revenues

A plan by the Province to re-negotiate the traffic fine revenues has the opposition steamed and municipalities concerned. For years, the fines levied against motorists for different offences have been turned over to municipalities for various different uses, such as intersection improvements. The City of Prince George got just over a million dollars last year. The traffic fine revenue is placed in the City’s general operating revenue and is used to offset our high policing costs. But, the Province has indicated it wants to renegotiate that deal, which has the Opposition fuming.
