Cosplayers Spend Months Gearing Up For Fan Con
PRINCE GEORGE – Although Northern Fan Con is over a week away, cosplayers are gearing up well ahead of time designing costumes. Many attendees will dress in costumes inspired by their favourite, film, television, or comic book characters.
Cosplayers spend months creating their costumes. Ben Gibson won the ‘Masters Category’ with his ‘Jack of Blades’ cosplay last year. He starts work on a costume at least six months prior to a show and estimates it takes him at least 200 hours to complete.
Organizers are overwhelmed by the creativity that comes out of Northern BC every year.
“I think that cosplay is like art in application, the most immediate piece of art that we have ourselves is how we dress, that’s how you express yourself right? Cosplay is so much more beyond that, it’s like a next level, an amazing, alive, medium,” says Norm Coyne, Northern Fan Con.
