Paper ballots remain B.C.’s ‘gold standard’ in digital age
PRINCE GEORGE – British Columbians headed to the polls on two consecutive Saturdays, first for a municipal election and then for a provincial election.
While voters were choosing different levels of government, the process had something very familiar in common: voters still had to go to a polling place, mark a paper ballot and feed it into a ballot box or electronic tabulator.
In an era when banking, shopping, appointments and countless other services can be handled from a phone, it raises an obvious question: Why can’t British Columbians vote online?
