BC Hydro working to restore power to Prince George storm-impacted customers
PRINCE GEORGE —About 135,000 BC Hydro customers were left in the dark overnight across B.C. as fierce storms continue to batter the province, with the Prince George area being among the hardest hit areas.
According to BC Hydro, the peak of the widespread outages came at 1 a.m. on Sunday, amid a second bout of the damaging weekend storms.
Prince George remains among the hardest-hit areas, but Sunday’s storm also hit hard in Surrey, Duncan and Port Hardy.
“A number of areas within city limits still remain without power, with BC Hydro advising that extensive storm damage will require work that will continue at least until [Sunday] and potentially longer, although the hardest hit areas are outside of city limits,” said a statement from the City of Prince George.
