PG Haz Mat Unit Called to Investigate Unknown Material

Prince George Fire Rescue closed a section Nicholson street as crews dealt with an unknown material. Fire Rescue responded to the Canada Post building on 15th avenue around nine this morning, to investigate an unknown powdered that had spilled from a parcel. Moments later the Hazardous Material Unit was called in to determine if the material was toxic. The material handed over to the Prince George RCMP and will be set to an RCMP laboratory for analysis. RCMP will continue the investigation, however at this time police believe the substance is not harmful. No health concerns have been reported.
