Pride Society Hosts Prom For LGBTQ+ Youth
PRINCE GEORGE- Prom is an exciting time for high school students, but for members of the LGBTQ+ community, it can be stressful. Some students may not feel comfortable bringing a same-sex partner, or dressing in a dress or suit. That’s why the PG Pride Society is hosting Pride Prom. Students aged 12-18 are able to dress how they like, bring who they like, and dance in an inclusive environment. “The community is important to have because the kids feel supported by each other, they need to know that they’re not alone,” said Pride Society secretary, Sue Trabant, “if they’re making connections with other youth from other schools, it just makes that road seem that little bit less lonely.” The event also encourages youth to get on stage and perform. The Pride Society is bringing in a professional drag queen to give tips and inspire confidence. Pride Prom takes place tomorrow night at ArtSpace at 7. Tickets are $10.
