PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Worker’ Memorial Statue on Patricia Boulevard at Queensway Street marks the site of a public memorial ceremony tomorrow at noon. Mayor Lyn Hall, along with reps from the North Central Labour Council and WorkSafe BC will be making presentations. The ceremony is one of many worldwide, marking the Annual Day of Mourning, remembering workers killed on the job. In 2017, WorkSafe BC reported 158 work-related death claims, two of those were in the Fraser Fort George region. 87 work-related death claims were caused by occupational disease, primarily resulting from exposure to asbestos decades ago, and 71 resulted from traumatic injuries.
