PRINCE GEORGE – Business Development Canada conducted a study in Prince George that showed a significant gap in available jobs and people looking to work.

The study showed that in 2018 600 jobs were created in the city while only 100 people joined the labour market. Another study by BDC found that Canadian entrepreneurs are limiting their investments in for 2019 due to a shortage of skilled labour.

British Columbia is currently the second hot spot in Canada after the Atlantic provinces in terms of labour shortages.

BDC also believes that as our population ages and baby boomers continue to retire, growth in Canada’s labour force is forecast to fall close to zero, with shortages not expected to improve for at least a decade.
