Local theatrics society puts on plays for V-Day
PRINCE GEORGE- The Nechako Community Theatrics society performed two plays this past weekend as part of V-Day, the global movement to end violence against women and children. 100 per cent of the proceeds from both plays will be going to charity.
90 per cent of the proceeds will be going to the Phoenix Transition Society, a local shelter for women and children. The other 10 per cent of the money will be going to Spotlight, a charity that helps formerly incarcerated women.
February 14th is the official day for V-Day and the performances are being performed around the world to raise awareness about issues that do not normally get talked about but should be talked about.
V-Day was started back in 1998 and its mission is to end violence against women and girls must end. To do this, once a year, in February, Eve allows groups around the world to produce a performance of the play, as well as other works created by V-Day, and use the proceeds for local individual projects and programs that work to end violence against women and girls.
