Nanaimo by-election critical to BC legislature
PRINCE GEORGE — What could be the most important provincial by-election in BC history is tomorrow in Nanaimo.
Generally speaking, by-elections don’t bring out the best voter turnout, but this one has the potential to shift the power within the government. Premier John Horgan’s minority NDP government could be at a standstill if the Liberals win Wednesday’s by-election.
Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond has voiced her support on social media for Liberal candidate Tony Harris, while Prince George-Mackenzie representative Mike Morris is also supporting Harris as he was in Nanaimo for a few days campaigning with him and his team.
“There’s a lot at stake here. The NDP tax policies, there are a lot of unhappy folks around the province with that,” he said. “The numbers also have never been as tight as they are in the House. We are the largest opposition that this province has ever had.”
