Lheidli T’enneh Elder Passes Away

PRINCE GEORGE- Mary Gouchie passed away January 24th just short of her 98th birthday. She was the oldest elder in the Lheidli T’enneh nation and was a teacher and keeper of the Lheidli dialect. She devoted much of her time at CNC where she provided most of the information and material used in CNC’s level one and two carrier language courses.
The flags at CNC and outside Prince George City Hall were lowered to half mast today in her honour.
A funeral is being held Saturday, February 2nd at the Sacred Heart Church at 2 p.m.
