PRINCE GEORGE – Riding high after beating the Rockets in back to back meetings, the Cougars were in tough last night against the best team in junior hockey, the Prince Albert Raiders.

The Raiders took control of the game early, as Sean Montgomery would score his 19th of the year seven minutes in. The Raiders would add another goal shortly after, with Parker Kelly adding his 21st to double the lead.

Things would settle down after that and the Cougars’ Jackson Leppard would cut the deficit in half just five minutes later, good for his 8th of the campaign.

The Cougars would come out strong in the second period, and Mike MacLean would tie the game with his 4th goal on the year just under three minutes into the frame.

Penalty trouble would cost the Cats in the second period. The Raiders would capitalize on their first powerplay of the period with Aliaksei Protas netting his 8th goal of the year.

The Raiders would dominate the third, adding three more goals in the period bringing their total to six.

The Cougars next game is Saturday at 7 p.m. at the CN Centre when they take on the Kamloops Blazers in game four of their six-game homestand.
