PRINCE GEORGE- A local family is speaking out about a devastating house fire early Tuesday morning on Redwood Street. It was a normal evening for Christine Storey, she was doing laundry and fell asleep. She woke up to find her rented home full of smoke and her dryer engulfed in flames. She says it could have been a lot worse as they didn’t know their fire alarms didn’t work. Luckily, she and her two children made it out of the home safely. However, two pets died in the fire and nearly all of their belongings will need to be replaced as the home suffered extensive smoke and water damage. During a walk through today, Storey discovered the home had been broken into and some undamaged items had been stolen. Despite that, she’s thanking the community for the support she’s received so far. They are currently staying with family until they can get back on their feet. A GoFundMe page has been set up in their honour.
