QUESNEL — Council for the City of Quesnel has passed a resolution that will ban retail cannabis sales. For now.

” We will then have a committee, a specific committee that will begin engaging the public in conversations about where do you want these retail stores,” explains Mayor Bob Simpson. “How far from schools and parks? How far from each other? How many in town?”

He says there is a lot of confusion for municipalities about the rules for retail cannabis sales and he wants the community to have a lot of say in what the rules for Quesnel will be.

Cannabis is set to be legalized on July 1st of this year.
