Black Bear Season Changes On Haida Gwaii

HAIDA GWAII – The black bear open season is now closed in Haida Gwaii and replaced with a limited entry hunt.
Anyone wanting to hunt black bears must apply to get a limited entry hunting authorization.
The authorization comes through the 2018 limited entry hunting lottery.
Applications will be accepted starting the week of April 23rd.
Changes for the black bear season will better control the number of hunters so that the four-bears-per-year cap doesn’t increase.
