PRINCE GEORGE – The City is receiving $125,000 in grant funding from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to continue its efforts to plan for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The FCM and the Government of Canada announced $12 million for 159 projects across the country. According to the FCM,

“The City of Prince George will be updating its existing climate change mitigation plan in order to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for both the corporate and community sectors. The new plan will include updated corporate and community emissions inventories, collection methodologies and baselines, extensive internal and external stakeholder engagement, the development of new short term and long term reduction targets and actions to help meet those targets both corporately and within the community.”

FCM cites the City’s partnership for the use of an electric vehicle as one example of how the City can make significant strides to reduce GHG’s.
