PRINCE GEORGE – As of Friday, Prince George has registered about 1,300 evacuees. The City is also working with other communities including Williams Lake, Quesnel and Fort St. John to increase accommodation options. Those who already have accommodation can receive support services including food vouchers by registering at the Emergency Reception Centre. More than $200,000 in food vouchers have already been distributed to registered evacuees. Anyone with RVs can register and receive access to campground space.

Residents interested in volunteering can register on the Volunteer PG website.

Evacuees in Prince George have free access to public transit, local pools, Exploration Place, Northern Sport Centre at UNBC and the public library. For more information about evacuee services and resources, visit the City website

Canadian Red Cross has launched an appeal for donations to help those impacted by the wildfires, however, the City is not requesting donations. Residents looking to donate can go to the Red Cross website, contact their local red cross office or call 1-800-418-1111

All YMCAs including the Prince George location, across the province are opening its doors to wildfire evacuees. They can simply show photo ID that includes their home address or show their evacuation wristband.

The Salvation Army is now active in Prince George and Smithers to receive evacuees, with the one in Williams Lake is standing by to assist evacuees. Over the next couple weeks, The Salvation Army will be providing food, water and emotional support to those affected by the crisis. You can also donate clothes to The Salvation Army to help the families affected. They are not currently taking furniture and household items.
