PRINCE GEORGE – “It hasn’t been like this since the pulp mills came in ’65, ’67. That’s my feeling.”

That’s how long-time realtor Ken Goss describes the level of construction in the city. And the numbers seem to bear that out. Year-to-date building permit values issued by the City to the end of August sit at $147 million.

Outgoing City Councillor Albert Koehler says there has been an “open for business” attitude.

The increase from year to year has been 70%.or more and the good thing is it’s not just big-ticket items like a school. To a good degree, it’s being carried by residential.  Prince George has become a really attractive place.”

Even lots along Boundary Road are selling; three have sold and an offer is pending on another along Highway 97.

Goss says the best is yet to comes and he’s is predicting continued growth in the months ahead and into next year. But there’a challenge.

“Everybody who needs tradesmen, they can’t find them,” he says. “You can’t find people here to work in town. It’s hard.”
