PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George RCMP says vehicle thefts have steadily risen this year and they believe the vehicles are being used to commit other crimes. In April, stolen vehicles reported spiked and have been on the rise ever since, with the exception of July. September topped the year so far with 31 stolen vehicles, but police believe it will continue to rise. There have been 19 vehicle thefts reported so far in October and RCMP predict another 15 before the end of the month. Full-size pickups are the most common vehicles that are stolen, but there are also a variety of other vehicles. The crimes that are being committed with these stolen vehicles include residential and commercial Break & Enters in urban and rural areas. Anyone with information about vehicle thefts in the area can contact Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
