SMITHERS – An air quality advisory that was issued Wednesday for Vanderhoof remains in effect.

The Ministry of Environment and Northern Health are blaming it on high concentrations of fine particulate matter. Exposure is of particular concern for infants, the elderly and those who have diabetes, and lung or heart disease.

Open burning restrictions are now in effect for the Vanderhoof Resource District until Friday.

Meanwhile, the air quality advisory that was issued for Burns Lake has been lifted. This was a result of improved air quality, thanks to changing weather conditions.
