There’s Snow Place Like Home: Polars Run Away With Playoff Win At Masich

The run-only offence had proven itself against other Northern BC teams throughout the season and on Saturday, Braden Reed and the PGSS Polars showed their ground game works against the rest of the province too. The Polars outmatched the South Kamloops Titans 42-16 at Masich Place to give the Polars just their second-ever birth to the Senior Varsity Quarterfinals.

For the second week in a row, quarterback Braden Reed ran for 5 touchdowns in the win. The Polars now head to BC Place next weekend for their quarterfinal matchup against Holy Cross.

The game was one of three at Masich Place on Saturday, marking a first for the city, who has never hosted a BC High School Football playoff game before. The Kelly Road Roadrunners had to watch as their season came to an end earlier in the day at the hands of the G.W. Graham Grizzlies, 59-6. After that, the College Heights Cougars Junior Varsity squad won their quarterfinal matchup against the junior team from South Kamloops. With the Junior Varsity league being smaller, the Cats will now play in the provincial semifinal next weekend.
