First Link Dementia Helpline To Help Those Affected By Dementia

PRINCE GEORGE — The First Link Dementia Helpline is an information resource that was put in place to help those affected by dementia, from those living with the disease, family members and caregivers.

This resource is helpful to dementia patients because they can get support from someone who understands what they’re going through, without having to explain everything from square one.

“Someone might call in because they’re starting to see changes in themselves or someone close to them and want to learn more about the warning signs and how to get a diagnosis,” says Sandra Meehan, Support and Education Coordinator for the Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s Northern Interior, Skeena and Peace Resource Centre.

This is also a helpful resource for caregivers, who sacrifice a lot to care for their loved ones with dementia.
