PRINCE GEORGE  – With the temperatures creeping into the plus-side of zero, the City is already gearing up for a sloppy mess on the roads. There are two steam trucks and three vacuum trucks at the ready, some of which are out now. They are joined by a number of crews using picks and shovels to clear storm drain of snow and ice.

“We have, typically, some lower points in the city and we already have crews going through those areas,” explains Jonathan LaFontaine, Supervisor of Utility Operations. “And we also have crews patrolling the hospital, some of the commercial areas.”

However, he says the City would not be averse to residents taking matters into their own hands to clear the storm drains in their own neighbourhoods. LaFontaine says concerned residents can also call the City to report a worrisome puddle. The number is 250-561-7600.
