Research-Focused Workshop On Supporting Urban Aboriginals

Jan 17, 2019 | 2:20 PM

PRINCE GEORGE- The Gathering Place at UNBC was the site of the Western Research Centre Workshop which focused on how to improve the lives of Aboriginal people living in urban areas. The majority of Aboriginals now live in urban areas and not on reserve.

Speakers at the workshop touched on subjects such as housing initiatives here in Prince George and the role Elders play in early childhood development. Understanding these initiatives is important to help understand how to best support higher quality lives for Aboriginal peoples living in urban areas.

The workshop was a follow up to the inaugural one held back in 2014.
