Truck fire closes Highway 16 east of Burns Lake

BURNS LAKE — Update: Mounties say no one was injured in this morning's vehicle fire at Tibbets Creek Road near Burns Lake.

North District RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson confirms it was a logging truck that caught fire early this morning,  adding there was no crash.

She says the cause of the fire remains unknown. The road remains open to single lane alternating traffic.

Update:   Drive BC says the highway is now open to single lane alternating traffic.

Earlier: A transport truck fire has closed Highway 16 near Burns Lake.

According to Drive BC, the truck caught fire early this morning at Tibbets Creek Road. 

No word on what caused the fire or if anyone was injured but the road is not expected to reopen until noon today.
