PRINCE GEORGE — Former Justice and Veterans Affairs Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould’s resignation Tuesday was one littered with controversy. Now local political bodies are speaking out about the issue with Cariboo-Prince George MP Todd Doherty saying she was “thrown under the bus”.

It was recently reported Wilson-Raybould was pressured to overlook criminal charges against SNC-Lavalin and, shortly after, resigned.

In a statement, Regional Chief Terry Teegee applauded the decision, noting “[Wilson-Raybould’s] past actions and commitments to First Nations, and all Canadians, are driven by her work and ethical standards despite reported efforts by some members of the federal government, including staff, to sabotage her professional and personal character.”

Tracy Calogheros, who ran for the Liberals in 2015, said this will matter to governance regardless of parties stating, “corruption isn’t partisan. If, in fact, there turns out to be corruption here, I would expect people across party lines would stand up to oppose it.”
