Snowfall leads to great track conditions at Otway

PRINCE GEORGE – Recent large dumps of snow this winter have set the stage nicely at Otway Nordic Centre for the Paranordic Skiing Championships.

The large snowfalls have provided a solid base of snow for athletes to compete on and made building the track easier for crews. The facility had invested more in snowmaking in recent years. During the Canada Winter Games in 2015 those snowmaking machines came into use fairly regularly but this year has been a much different story. So far for the Paranordic Championships, the machines have yet to be run.

At the end of every day, the teams and competitors gather to go over any issues or concerns they may have during the event and so far, the feedback has been positive.

With temperatures expected to stay fairly cold for the next few days, staff expect the track conditions to remain favourable.
