PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) has announced President and CEO John Gibson is leaving the organization after 10 years at the helm.

Since Gibson took over a decade ago, the PGAA notes he’s been instrumental in the financial and operational side of the business and has brought labour stability as well.

“This includes improving the company’s cash flow and reaching three collective agreements with the Public Service Alliance of Canada.”

During Gibson’s tenure, he’s also overseen the construction of a cargo warehouse, a 600,000-litre fuel farm, rehabilitation of runways and aprons and has also been involved in the early stages of development for a logistics park for the Prince George Airport.

In addition to that, YXS has seen a 35 per cent increase in the number of passengers – including a record 506,000 in 2018.

“It has been a privilege to lead the Prince George Airport Authority and see it succeed over the last 10 years,” says Gibson. “This organization is full of good people and I want to thank all of our staff as they have truly helped with the growth, advancement, and keeping us a ‘best in class’ airport.”

The PGAA says it will now begin the search for a new president and CEO.
