PRINCE GEORGE— The Prince George Farmer’s Market continues to grow, even expanding the location to a site across the street. A huge reason for the busy crowds is the high demand for local products.

Many vendors have found success starting their business at the Farmer’s Market, including Birch & Boar Charcuterie and Provisions. The local charcuterie quickly established a vast clientele in the city, and gained enough traction to expand their business to a new downtown location. Starting at the Farmer’s Market helped them meet and connect with people in the city and strengthen their business.

“It was a slow process. We started with a small table and we kind of slowly grew and gathered our fanbase and added products to our list,” Birch & Boar Charcuterie and Provisions Co-Founder William Miller says. “Over time, we got a good following and we kind of figured we could actually make a go of this and really carry a lot of what makes Prince George unique, while being unique to Prince George.”

Long-time customers of the farmer’s market location are excited about the expansion, with many saying the success of local businesses help boost the local economy, and the city overall. The continuous demand for local products in the city and the success of local businesses like Birch & Boar may encourage other Farmer’s Market vendors to expand their businesses in the future.
