Mounties Investigate $80K Jewelry Heist in Dawson Creek

DAWSON CREEK — Mounties in Dawson Creek are seeking the public’s help in locating suspects involved in a sizeable jewelery heist.

North District Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says police responded to an alarm activation at the DC Gold Brick Jewelers Store located inside the Dawson Creek Shopping Mall at around 3:45 a.m. yesterday (Nov.22).

“Police immediately attended and discovered that entry had been made into the mall,” she says. “Once inside the mall, the thieves broke into the store setting off the alarm.”

Saunderson says “a significant amount of jewelry was missing along with an undisclosed amount of cash.”

She notes police found an abandoned vehicle nearby with pieces of jewelry inside along with other evidence.

“Police Dog Services were called to the scene and tracked the suspects to a location where it is believed they may have got into another vehicle,” Saunderson adds.

Surveillance cameras captured the suspects and a vehicle police believe are responsible for the theft.

Police estimate that over $80,000 in jewelry was stolen.
