New Transit plan coming

PRINCE GEORGE – The City is looking at its long-term Transit Plan with an eye to addressing the needs of an ever-changing landscape.

Last week, it held stakeholder meetings with a number of organizations.

“It was a bit of a learning session as part One of it and then gaining a lot of the feedback about what the priorities are.”

One of those organizations was the Council of Seniors.

“So we’re looking at ways to increase the amount of service. Sometimes buses only come once an hour. So it’s really hard for seniors sometimes when they go out and they’re doing their shopping or doing what they need to to do, not to have buses running closer together.”

Seniors are also asking for more shelters with seating and lighting, something the City says it is aware of and working on.

The information from these stakeholder engagement meetings will be used to formulate a plan for filling the gaps in service. There will be more information released in the Spring of next year.
