Campfire ban lifted for Prince George

Jul 28, 2021 | 10:23 AM

PRINCE GEORGE – Good news as we head into the long weekend, campfires are now allowed in Prince George and in Northwest Fire Centres. A campfire is any fire smaller than 0.5 metres high by 0.5 metres wide.

Also allowed as of Wednesday; the use of tiki and similar kinds of torches, chimineas, and outdoor stoves.

A reminder to never light a campfire in windy conditions and to never leave your fire unattended. Also, make sure that any fire is completely extinguished, and the ashes are cold to the touch before leaving.

Category 2 and Category 3 open fires remain prohibited, which includes fireworks, sky lanterns, burn barrels and burn cages. These restrictions will remain in place until October 15, 2021, or until the order is rescinded.
