Prince George’s Meryeta O’Dine will not be competing in the women’s snowboard cross event in the Olympics after crashing in training and sustaining an injury, according to a Facebook post from her mom Virginia.

Virginia wrote that Meryeta was not medically cleared to compete and that the two will watch the women’s snowboard cross races together.

Virginia added “We’re sad, but glad she’s going to be okay soon to continue racing in a few weeks.”

This was the first Olympics for the 20-year-old from Prince George, who entered the Games 6th in the world standings.
