PRINCE GEORGE – The University Hospital of Northern BC unveiled a new welcoming art display called “Community Hearts”.

Métis artist Carla Joseph created the piece which welcomes visitors to the hospital in the Carrier language.

“I just wanted to make a piece that would make people smile and be happy,” says Joseph.

The painting was commisioned by the Prince George and Area Aboriginal Health Improvement Committee (AHC). The AHIC is a group that aims to support improved health and well-being for Indigenous peoples and communities. Many of these initiatives are focused on cultural safety.
