PRINCE GEORGE — Here’s what made the news in Prince George and Northern B.C. on Monday, October 26, 2026.
- British Columbia is preparing for a new political era after voters elected a Conservative majority government in the October 24 provincial election, ending the BC NDP’s time in power and elevating Premier-designate Lorne Doerkson to the province’s highest office.
- British Columbians headed to the polls on two consecutive Saturdays, first for a municipal election and then for a provincial election. In an era when banking, shopping, appointments and countless other services can be handled from a phone, it raises an obvious question: Why can’t British Columbians vote online?
- According to the BC RCMP, people in Prince George and throughout northern B.C. will still call 9-1-1 the same way, even as the RCMP’s regional emergency communications centre upgrades to a new digital system.
- A 27-year-old man is dead following a single-vehicle rollover west of Wells over the weekend.
- The Prince George Spruce Kings sit atop the overall British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) standings, having won five straight games.
