PRINCE GEORGE- Parents are voicing their concerns for the safety of their children and Springwood’s crossing guard. They say they’ve watched as traffic disobeys and speeds past the crossing guard on North Kelly Road.

The Board of Education and District Parent Advisory Council receive a lot of complaints about traffic, such as speeding in school zones, drivers passing school buses, and drivers disobeying crossing guards. The school board works together with the city and RCMP to tackle some of those issues.

“Traffic needs to be aware that twice a day we have kids on their way to school and on their way home,” said DPAC chair, Gillian Burnett,”if that’s a problem for you, I’d suggest you adjust your travelling time.”

At the beginning of the school year, PG RCMP released some information regarding traffic violations around schools. Passing a school bus can cost you more than $300, and disobeying a crossing guard is a $167 fine.
