Charges Laid In Counterfeit Currency Investigation
PRINCE GEORGE – RCMP have made two arrests following several reports about counterfeit money in the city. Last Thursday at a traffic stop, police say two out of five passengers of a vehicle were arrested after receiving a suspicious vehicle report. Police allege seizing seventeen counterfeit $50 US bills from the car.
Cole Patrick McIntyre-Hartwick, 20, has been charged with the production and distribution of counterfeit currency, offering to sell it and three counts of using counterfeit money as if it were real. He first appeared in court Monday and he’s scheduled to make his next appearance on April 25th.
A female under 18 years of age has also been charged with production and possession of counterfeit currency. She made her court appearance Monday and was released with documents to appear in court at a later date.
Last Friday, police executed a search warrant on a motel room in Bear Lake, where they allegedly found over $8,000 in counterfeit $100 bills.
