KELOWNA – A local builder was among 10 regional organizations who were recognized at FortisBC’s annual Efficiency in Action Awards. Lithium One Homes Ltd. is a local single-family builder who has contributed towards reducing the use of natural gas and electricity in their projects to make them more energy efficient.

Through the combined efforts of all 10 recipients, they were able to reduce their natural gas use of about 140 homes annually and their annual electricity use of about 600 homes.

“The people at these organizations are leading the way in reducing energy use in our communities,” said Dennis Swanson, VP Energy Supply and Resource Development, FortisBC. “We applaud their drive to go beyond standard energy efficiency, their creativity in finding affordable ways to incorporate this into their projects and their success in gaining support within their organizations. We’re proud to have been a part of it.”

“Together this helps meet BC’s climate action goals, reduces costs in their operations and lessens the need for new utility infrastructure, which helps keep rates lower for all customers,” added Swanson.
