Streamflow Expected To Continue Rising In PG
PRINCE GEORGE – The River Forecast Centre (RFC) issued a High Streamflow Advisory for Prince George on Thursday and warns over the next week it could get worse.
Over the next few days, high pressure is forecasted to dominate the weather pattern across British Columbia. Ongoing accelerated snowmelt is expected to lead to ongoing rapid rises on the Fraser River throughout next week.
During a High Streamflow Advisory river levels are rising rapidly, but no major flooding is expected. However, minor flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
The RFC says warm temperatures over the past three weeks have led to a much earlier than normal runoff period for the river. Many parts of the river are at, or above, their historic flows for this early in the season and rises are expected to continue.
